Compress PDF

Reduce PDF size while protecting quality. Lossless structure clean-up is always applied; optional levels re-encode oversized photos only where it helps. If the result is not smaller, you keep your original.

Your files stay on your device — nothing is uploaded.

About Compress PDF: free, private and in your browser

Compress PDF makes a PDF smaller so it is easier to email, upload or store. It tries lossless savings first, such as removing unused objects and re-packing data, and offers stronger levels that re-encode large photos at a lower quality or size. Everything runs in your browser, so your file is never uploaded, which is the safest way to compress confidential documents. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The tool never gives you a bigger file: if it cannot make the PDF smaller, it keeps your original and says so. Text, vector graphics and line art stay sharp, and only large images are reduced when you pick a stronger level. Scanned documents often shrink the most, while text-only PDFs may shrink only slightly because they are already compact. Try the lossless level first, then increase strength until the size suits you. To remove hidden data instead, use Clean PDF, and for turning pages into smaller pictures, use Grayscale PDF.
