About PDF to Text: free, private and in your browser

PDF to Text extracts the selectable text from a PDF and lets you copy it or download it as a plain .txt file. The extraction runs locally in your browser, so your document is not uploaded anywhere and remains private. It is a free, simple way to copy text from a PDF for notes, translation, search or accessibility tools, with no sign-up and no watermark. Optional page markers show where each page begins, and you can limit the extraction to certain pages. The tool works on PDFs that contain real text; scanned pages are pictures, and Dev PDF does not include OCR, so it will tell you when no text is found rather than returning an empty file. Fonts with unusual encodings can occasionally produce odd characters, which is a limitation of the PDF itself. For editable formatting use PDF to Word, and to read a document aloud use Listen PDF. Large documents are processed on your own device, so speed depends on its memory.
