About Enhance PDF: free, private and in your browser
Enhance PDF improves scanned or photographed documents by increasing contrast, cleaning up grey backgrounds and sharpening text, with an optional black-and-white mode. Adjust brightness, contrast and sharpening, pick a resolution, and download an improved PDF. The processing happens locally in your browser, so private scans are never uploaded. It is free, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark. It is helpful for faded photocopies, phone photos of paper pages, and old scans that look grey or uneven. Because the pages are re-drawn as pictures, text in the result is no longer selectable, and Dev PDF does not include OCR to recognise it again, so keep your original file. High settings can make light handwriting disappear, so adjust gradually. The resolution option controls the balance between quality and size, and the result is shown with its new file size. For simply removing colour, use Grayscale PDF, and for reducing size afterwards, use Compress PDF. Large documents depend on your device’s memory.
